Christians can be absolved of sin by confessing them to priests ordained in the Catholic Church

Note: This practice us called confession

Supporting arguments

In the New Testament, it is established that Christians should have their sins absolved by God, a process that occurs through confessing those sins to ordained Catholic priests. [1]

The Catholic Church, being the heir of apostolic succession, is the earthly representative of Jesus. Therefore, the Church can absolve believers of sin, through the sacrament of confession. [2]

While people should confess their sins to God and those they have harmed, only very serious sins need to be confirmed to the proper prirsthood authorities in the LDS Church. [3]

Opposing arguments

Because salvation comes from faith alone, no earthly priest, or lack thereof, could stand in the way of someone losing their sins through the atonement of Jesus. [4]

Priests do not have the ability to absolve anyone of sins. [5]
