Linking arguments
All humans have a right to life
It is morally acceptable to kill people as punishment for certain crimes

Supporting arguments

Drug trafficking results in people becoming addicted to drugs, which is a lifelong and debilitating health problem that is often fatal. Drug traffickers are morally responsible for these outcomes, and should be executed when convicted. [1]

The existence of capital punishment deters would-be criminals from committing serious crimes. Thus, capital punishment saves lives by reducing crime. Can you supply this point with a source that proves it is earnest? Do it yourself or provide the link on the talk page.

This point relies on Islamic doctrine.
If a person is found to have performed magic, or witchcraft under Islamic law, local authorities should execute the offender. [2]

Opposing arguments

Governments are too fallible to be trusted to fairly decide who is factually guilty and morally culpable enough to deserve execution for a crime. [3]

In the United States, capital punishment is dispensed inequitably. Black criminals are more likely to be executed than white criminals. This is an unfair racial bias. Can you supply this point with a source that proves it is earnest? Do it yourself or provide the link on the talk page.

Innocent people have been executed, and there is always or almost always the possibility of doubt as to any individual's guilt. As long as capital punishment is practiced, there will continue to be innocent people executed, which is highly immoral. It is better to sentence people to lifetime imprisonment so that they can be released if new evidence comes to light [4] [5]
