Supporting arguments
Through government spending, economies can be buoyed during economic recession, ameliorating its harmful effects. [1]
One historical example of success in this area was the Panic of 1907, which threatened to cause great harm to the American economy before government intervention ended the problem. [2]
Opposing arguments
Government intervention is not successful at helping economies recover from recessions. One example is the recent recession that began in 2007. The US government used economic stimulus to end the recession, and it has not been successful. [3]
