The rules in the Book of Leviticus are superseded by the New Testament. Thus, the prohibition against same-sex sexual behavior does not apply to people anymore. [3]

In this context, the word usually translated as "abomination" refers to something that is ritually unclean for Jews, akin to eating pork or engaging in sexual intercourse with a menstruating woman. Therefore, these lines are not a universally applicable condemnation of same-sex sexual behavior. [4]

Just prior to 22-24 is Leviticus 18:19, which prohibits sexual intercourse between married couples when the woman is menstruating. This is not commonly interpreted to apply to modern behavior, and there is no reason Leviticus 18:22-24 should not be treated likewise. [5]
