Supporting arguments

People who have not achieved Christian salvation when they die will be judged unworthy and will be punished for an amount of time commensurate with their sins. Then, their soul will be annihilated. The life, death and resurrection of Jesus has allowed all people to avoid this consequence and gain immortality through salvation. [1]

The apostle Paul preached to this effect in 2 Timothy 1:9b-10, stating that Jesus "has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel". [2]

Paul makes this point in Romans 2:7, "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life." [3]

In John 6:51, Jesus states " I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever." [4]

Opposing arguments

All human souls are immortal, not just saved Christians. [5]
