Supporting arguments

The moral principles taught by Hindu scripture including helping others and communities, fulfilling dharma and harming no one. Same-sex sexual behavior is compatible with those principles. [1]

Hindu sacred texts, in Bhagavatam 4.29.29 and Garuda Purana 2.32.29, both describe homosexuality as a normal occurrence to be tolerated. [2]

Homosexual couples who are in love are in that position because they were a heterosexual couple in a former life, and their love has crossed over into their new souls. Homosexual relationships in this context are compatible with Hinduism. [3]

Marriage is a union of two spirits according to Hindu scripture. Since spirits do not have genders, people can morally pursue sexual intercourse within the confines of a marital relationships regardless of gender. [4]

Opposing arguments

The Vedas state that sexual intercourse is acceptable only for the purpose of procreation. Same-sex sexual behavior is incompatible with that, and is therefore unacceptable for Hindus. [5]

Sexual activity is only compatible with Hinduism when it occurs between a man and a woman who are married to each other. Therefore, all same-sex sexual activity is inherently sinful. [6] [7]
