Supporting arguments

The prophecies predicting the first coming of Christ came true literally, in the life and resurrection of Jesus. It is therefore reasonable to suggest that the predictions of his second coming will also come true. Jesus will return in the future, and begin his milennial reign. [1]

God made a covenant with David, promising a literal, physical kingdom over which Jesus would actually reign. This is described in the Bible (2 Samuel 7:8-16, 23:5; Psalm 89:3-4). [2]

The existence of a literal kingdom is also confirmed by Zechariah 14:4, 9; Jeremiah 23:5-8 and Daniel 7:13-14, 27. [3]

Opposing arguments

The reign of Jesus predicted is not a literal physical kingdom over which he directly governs. It is the current, ongoing age of the Christian church, over which Jesus rules as God. The "thousand year" duration is also symbolic. [4]
